Works to address the long-standing poor drainage on holes 2 and 3 of Lochgreen Golf Course is due to commence in early October.
Contractors were appointed in September to reshape the current topography of the fairway, and to create a series of open drainage channels, with the aim of diverting water away from areas that are ‘in play’.
A new green on the 2nd hole will be built, which will slightly shorten the hole length to a Par 4 but will also improve the safety of golfers from wayward drives from those playing the Fullarton 15th hole.
A new teeing complex will be constructed on Hole 3, which will encourage drives to play away from the Cycle Path. These tees will lengthen the hole yardage, to take account for the yardage lost on the previous hole.
A series of open drainage channel will also be constructed here, including a connecting channel that will look to address the drainage issue on Fullarton’s 8th hole.
A total of 5 bunkers will be removed, with 6 new ones created in positions more in keeping with modern playing strategies.
The construction phase is anticipated to take approximately 10 weeks, with a period of time required to establish the new green and other newly turfed areas thereafter.
For the period of works, Hole 2 and 3 have been shortened. A marked route for golfers to avoid the construction area has been introduced. Please follow all appropriate signage.
